The La Junta Rural Fire Protection District was formed after an election in May 1952. Voters approved the formation of the District which consists of 365 sq miles. The District encompasses the area west to Timpas Creek, North to the Crowley County line, East to the Bent County line, and South to an East/West line approximately 11 miles south of the city limits of La Junta. The rural district is a statutory fire taxing district under CRS title 32. In an agreement between the Rural District and the City of La Junta we are able to provide excellent fire and ambulance services to the community.
The La Junta Rural Fire District is currently run by a Board of Directors. Those directors are as follows:
